Bonny Moellenbrock is the Executive Director of Investors’ Circle, the largest and most active early-stage impact investing network in the world. Since 1992, IC has propelled over $200 million into 340+ for-profit enterprises dedicated to improving the environment, education, health, and community. Bonny brings extensive entrepreneurial, venture capital, sustainable business, and nonprofit management experience to her role. As Executive Director of SJF Institute, she led the organization’s work to connect, inspire, and accelerate impact entrepreneurs, building out the Getting Ready for Equity™ and Cleantech Mentorship programs, framing employee engagement research and publications, and producing SJF Summits on the New Green Economy. Previously, Bonny was a Managing Director and Finance Director at SJF Ventures, a leading impact venture fund investing in high-growth, positive impact companies in the cleantech, sustainability, and tech-enhanced services sectors. At SJF, Bonny increased presence and deal flow in the sustainable consumer products industry and managed the venture fund’s financial operations.
Before joining SJF in 2000, she served as COO and CFO of Preservation North Carolina, a nonprofit that promotes historic preservation and protects properties through its award-winning endangered properties acquisition and redevelopment program. She also served on the management team of an entrepreneurial commercial recycling company, where she began in sales and customer service then managed administrative operations as the company quintupled in sales and employment in three years.
Bonny serves on the GIIRS Developed Markets Standards Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of AMCREF Community Capital. She holds an MBA, a Master of Regional Planning, and a BA in Environmental Policy from UNC-Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of the Venture Capital Institute. Bonny enjoys gardening and making music with her husband and two daughters at their historic bungalow in Durham, NC.
