Eat well, save the earth. And the small farms on it!

"Wholesome Harvest wants to grow carefully to protect its mission. Therefore when the time came to raise growth capital, Wholesome Harvest chose Investors' Circle where not only money, but consensus could be raised."

-- Wende Elliott, President and founding organic farmer

About Wholesome Harvest:

In 2001 a young Iowa farmwife who was very committed to feeding her children safe meat and encouraging responsible farming practices in her region set out on a mission to "eat well, save the earth, and the small farms on it." She designed Wholesome Harvest’s simple label on her home computer and the original vision statement for the group remains unchanged.

Today Wholesome Harvest is a coalition of over 40 concerned small family farms. Since 2001, Wholesome Harvest has been offering premium organic certified poultry and meats to grocers, chefs and households. Their commitment to quality extends above USDA organic standards to additionally include pasture based production methods--and no feedlots or confinement/factory farms. Low density pasture production on small family farms ensures a higher quality of life for the animals, better environmental stewardship, and added flavor and nutrition. Wholesome Harvest is also committed to revitalizing decimated rural communities and Fair Trade principles. They seek to offer independent food choices for consumers that have traceability systems and authenticity in intention and production.

Wholesome Harvest is a small farmer coalition that owns our own brand of meats, including chicken, beef, pork, lamb, duck, goose and turkey. As producers and not packing houses, they absolutely know and control the traceability of their product and have the freedom to choose the processors with the best practices both for social responsibility and food safety.
